Affiliate Disclosure
How Volt & Velo is funded, in plain English — and the one thing it never changes.
The short version
Volt & Velo is free to read because some of the links to products on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. It does not change the price you pay, and it never changes which product we recommend.
Amazon Associates
Volt & Velo is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Most of our product links go to Amazon and are tagged with our Associates tag; when you buy through them, Amazon pays us a percentage of the sale.
How prices and availability work
Prices and availability come from the retailer and change constantly. We display live prices pulled automatically and stamped with the date they were retrieved; where we cannot show a live price, we say “Check price” and send you to the retailer to see the current figure. We never display a hardcoded or stale price. The price you see at checkout on the retailer’s site is the price that applies.
Where our links go
Product links route through a simple redirect on our own domain (a “/go” link) that carries our affiliate tag to the retailer. These links are marked as sponsored, as required by search-engine and advertising guidelines. Some brands — particularly premium direct-sell e-bike makers — are not part of any affiliate program we belong to; where we link to them, we earn nothing, and we are happy to recommend them anyway when they are the right answer.
It never changes our recommendations
This is the part that matters most. The commission we might earn plays no role in which products we recommend or how we rank them. We routinely tell readers to buy the cheaper option, to skip a category, or to buy from a brand that pays us nothing, because our job is to be useful to you, not to maximize a commission. The reasoning behind every pick is on our How We Review page, and our independence rules are in the editorial policy.
Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you want to know whether a specific link is an affiliate link, just ask via our contact page. We are happy to be transparent about exactly how this works.
