How we picked
A published load rating was the entry requirement. A large share of bike storage sold online states no capacity at all, or states one only in a listing bullet the manufacturer never repeats on its own site. Those were excluded, however cheap. Each of the four picks names a figure on the maker’s own product page, and we read all four on August 31, 2026.
Lift height came second, and it reordered the list. There are really three designs here: ones you roll a wheel into at floor level, ones you lift a wheel into at head height, and ones that use a pulley so your arms are not taking the load directly. For a 70 lb bike that distinction matters more than price, more than finish, and considerably more than how many bikes the rack can theoretically hold.
Wheel and tire fit came third, and it is the quiet dealbreaker in this bracket. Value e-bikes skew toward 20-inch wheels and 4-inch tires, while a great many racks are built for a 700c wheel wearing a 32 mm tire. Then what it fixes into, because a rack is only as strong as the wall or ceiling behind it. We have not installed every one of these; this is exactly what we do instead.
Does the rating actually clear your bike?
The three wall and floor picks are rated 77 lb, 80 lb and 100 lb. Below is what those ceilings mean against the bikes on this site that publish a weight, using the figures already in our registry rather than any new claim. Read the margin, not just the yes.

Two things fall out of that table. The first is that a 100 lb rating is not overkill — it is simply the only figure that leaves comfortable margin across the whole bracket, which is why the Delta Pivot is the default pick rather than the extravagant one. The second is that a 77 lb ceiling under a 75 lb bike is a two-pound margin, and two pounds disappears the moment you leave a lock, a pannier or a phone mount on the bike, which is exactly how people store them.
The Jasion Roamer row is there deliberately. Jasion publishes motor, battery, certification and equipment for that bike but no weight, so the honest entry is “Not published” and every rating column is a dash. If your bike is in the same position, weigh it: stand on a bathroom scale holding the bike, subtract your own weight, and treat the result as the number that matters. It takes two minutes, and it is the only way to use a rated rack honestly.
Lift height is the spec nobody prints
Every rack in this category is sold on how much floor or wall space it saves. None of them are sold on how much of the bike’s weight your back has to move, and for an e-bike owner that is the number deciding whether the rack gets used at all.
A vertical hook — the classic cheap answer — asks you to lift the entire bike by its front wheel until the rim clears a hook mounted above your head. On a 25 lb road bike that is a shrug. On a 75 lb fat-tire folder it is a genuinely awkward overhead lift with an object that swings, and it is the most common reason an e-bike ends up leaning against a wall instead. A horizontal wall mount is easier, because you lift to roughly waist or chest height rather than overhead, but you are still taking the full weight.
A roll-on design — the Delta Pivot, and in a different way the CycleStand — takes essentially none of it. The front wheel rolls up a short ramp or into a cradle while the bike stays on the ground, so the rack’s job is to hold the bike upright rather than to hold it up. A pulley hoist is the third answer: the rope and blocks give you mechanical advantage, so the pull you feel is a fraction of the bike’s weight, at the cost of the bike ending up somewhere you cannot casually reach.

What the rack is fixed to matters more than the rack
A wall rack rated for 100 lb held up by two drywall anchors is not a 100 lb wall rack. Every wall pick here mounts with lag bolts into structure, and structure means a stud — not plasterboard, not a hollow-wall anchor, and not a single fixing in the middle of a stud bay. Find the studs with a magnet or a stud finder, mark both, and fix into them even if that means the rack sits four inches from where you wanted it.
Ceiling hoists are the same argument with worse consequences. The load goes into ceiling joists, and a joist runs one way — both mounting plates need to land on real timber, not on the plasterboard between them. The RAD Sportz kit is rated for a 100 lb load and for ceilings up to around twelve feet, and both of those figures assume the mounts are in joists. If you are renting, or if you cannot confirm what is behind the surface, this whole category is off the table and the freestanding floor stand is your answer.
One more thing worth checking before you drill: how much room the bike needs once it is up. A bike parked vertically on a wall rack projects about six feet upward and roughly two feet outward, which is unremarkable in a garage and occasionally comical in a hallway.
Fit is the dealbreaker, not capacity
The most common reason a storage rack goes back is not that it broke. It is that the wheel would not go in. Two dimensions decide it, and both are published.
Tire width is the first. The CycleStand tops out at 3.5 inches, which covers a hybrid, a commuter and a plus-size tire but not a 20x4 fat-tire bike — and fat-tire models are a large share of what this site covers, starting with the fat-tire picks. The Delta Pivot goes to 4.25 inches, which takes a standard 4-inch fat tire. The Steadyrack Fat Rack goes to 4.5 inches, the widest window here and the reason it is on the page at all.
Wheel diameter is the second, and it is the one that catches folding-bike owners. The CycleStand needs a wheel of 24 inches or larger, so a 20-inch folder simply does not reach. The Delta Pivot and the Steadyrack both state a 20 to 29 inch window, so a folding e-bike works on either. Check your own tire sidewall before you buy anything on this page — the size is printed on it, and it settles the question in ten seconds.
Fenders are a smaller third factor. Delta states that the Pivot works with a front fender given about 12 mm of clearance between wheel and fender, which most aftermarket fender sets have. If yours sits tighter than that, plan on a floor stand instead.
What we would not buy for an e-bike
Multi-bike racks quoted as a total. A two-bike wall rack advertised at “100 lb” is usually 100 lb across both hooks, which is 50 lb a bike — below every e-bike in the table above. The headline number reads like it clears your bike. It does not. The same arithmetic applies to gravity leaning stands sold as “120 lb, 2 bikes.”
Bare screw-in hooks sold by the pack. The 100 lb rating on a bag of eight steel hooks is a rating for the hook, not for the wall it is screwed into and not for your shoulders. They are excellent for a child’s bike and a bad idea for a 70 lb one.
Anything that carries a fat tire on a narrow hook. A wide tire hung from a thin steel hook concentrates a lot of weight on one small patch of rim. Racks designed for fat tires cradle the tire across its width instead, which is a real engineering difference rather than marketing.
Store the bike here, but store the battery indoors
Where the bike goes and where the pack goes are separate decisions, and the second one is a safety decision. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission runs a micromobility program specifically because lithium-ion packs fail badly when they fail, and its guidance is consistent: charge and store packs where you can see them, clear of exits, and never charge unattended overnight in a space you would have to escape through.
In practice that means the bike can live on a wall rack in a cold garage all winter while the battery comes off and sits inside at room temperature. Cold storage is hard on a pack — our battery care guide covers the charge level to leave it at and why — and a removable pack is one of the reasons to prefer that design in the first place. It also makes the bike several pounds lighter to get onto the rack, which is not a small consideration at 75 pounds.
If the bike has to live outdoors instead, a rack is the wrong product and a proper cover is the right one, paired with something solid to lock it to. Indoors, a rack is not a security device either: it holds the bike, it does not stop anyone walking off with it.
